Calcium is voor je botten en tanden onontbeerlijk. Calcium houdt de botten sterk en zorgt een goede botaanmaak.
Samen met magnesium zorgt calcium voor een vitaal hart en gezonde bloedvaten. Calcium is noodzakelijk voor een regelmatige hartslag, een goed waak-slaapritme, de opname van ijzer en voor de overdracht van prikkels in het zenuw- en spierstelsel. Calcium is bovendien onontbeerlijk voor een goede opname van vitamine B12.
Calciumcitraat is een goed opneembare en oplosbare vorm van calcium, waar veel voedingsdeskundigen de voorkeur aan geven. Calciumcitraat beïnvloedt de darmpassage veel minder dan andere calciumsupplementen. De dagelijks aanbevolen hoeveelheid ligt tussen de 800-1200 mg.
