De bottenbouwer
Ostayur is een belangrijk Ayurvedisch middel voor een goede botaanmaak en sterke botten.
Het bestanddeel Vicissus quadrangularis is goed voor de opbouw van botweefsel. Terminalia arjuna verbetert de aanvoer van voedingsstoffen. Commiphora mukul versnelt de weefselstofwisseling en bevordert de opname.
Belangrijke toevoeging aan Ostayur is bamboe (Bambusa vulgaris). Deze snelgroeiende grassoort wordt in Azië van oudsher gebruikt vanwege zijn positieve effecten op de weefselopbouw, met name die van het botstelsel. Bamboe is een voorname bron van silica, dat zich in de osteoblasten (botvormende cellen) bevindt en verantwoordelijk is voor de afzetting van calciumfosfaat in de eiwitmatrix van het botweefsel.
Naast silica bevat bamboe ook ijzer, calcium, choline en betaine. Essentiële bouwstoffen die een waardevolle bijdrage leveren aan de remineraliserende eigenschappen van deze 'bottenbouwer'.
