Enzym voor de eiwitvertering
Papaïne is een eiwitafbrekend enzym dat gewonnen wordt uit de Carica papaya-vrucht. Papaïne heeft een verzachtend effect op de maag en helpt bij de vertering van eiwitten. Als eiwitten onvolledig worden verteerd, kunnen langere ketens van peptiden worden geabsorbeerd, wat reacties kan veroorzaken.
Regelmatig gebruik van Papaïne helpt de onlasting dikker te maken, ondersteunt de darmwerking en de maagfunctie.
Hulda Clark gebruikt Papaïne om het immuunsysteem te stimuleren. Papaïne is in dit opzicht werkzamer dan Bromelaïne, dat verkregen wordt uit ananas en qua toepassing met Papaïne overeenkomt.
