Vitamine B5 is een van de acht in water oplosbare B-vitamines. Alle B-vitamines helpen het lichaam bij de omzetting van koolhydraten in glucose (suiker), dat verbrandt wordt om energie te produceren. Deze B-vitamines zijn onmisbaar voor het afbreken van vetten en eiwitten. B-vitamines zijn tevens belangrijk voor de spijsvertering en het zenuwstelsel, de huid, haren, ogen, mond en lever.
